There is this married guy that I love and...?

He loves me back too I think. Anyway I only found out he's married and got kids recently. I have kids too but am single. He told me about his wife etc but said they are seperated now - although - not divorced. Should I trust that he really likes/loves me or am I just his mistress and he's secretly still with his wife? I really am in love with this guy...
