Is it true that honey will get rid of the appearance of scars?

I have a couple not so bad scars on my upper thigh, but it is still noticeable. I want to get rid of them, and I heard that honey helps, but I want to be sure. If not, what are some ways to get rid of scars, besides Bio Oil? I've been using it for a while and it doesn't seem to be working.
